Ogbakha-Edo, a group from Benin, is against the idea of making the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, and the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, the permanent co-leaders. On August 2, 2025, they released a statement signed by Chairman Prof. Sam Guobadia and Secretary Dr. Andrew Osaretin Izekor. They think this plan weakens the Oba of Benin’s authority and isn’t fair. They call it an attempt to lower the Benin monarchy’s status.
