Despite Nigeria’s rocky start in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali believes the team still has a clear path to qualification.

The Chippa United shot-stopper shared his optimism during an interview with Brila FM, urging fans to remain hopeful as Nigeria gears up for its remaining group fixtures.

“It’s football. Just because we are Nigeria doesn’t mean we’re guaranteed to win every game,” Nwabali stated. “But you can see we still have a lot of chances to qualify, despite where we are on the table.”

Nigeria, three-time Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) champions, currently sit fourth in their qualification group, trailing rivals in a high-stakes race where only one ticket is available for automatic qualification.

With just a few games left, maximum points are crucial if Nigeria hopes to climb the table and secure a spot at the 2026 tournament, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Nwabali emphasized the importance of focus and resilience:

“We’re going to push in our next game, take it one game at a time, and we’ll see how our next four games go.”

After missing out on the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the Super Eagles are under pressure to bounce back and restore their global tournament reputation. Fans will be watching closely as the team prepares to make its final push toward qualification.
