Former NFL linebacker Bryan Braman who played for the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles has died at the age of 38 after battling a rare and aggressive form of cancer, his agent confirmed Thursday.
Braman, diagnosed in February, underwent multiple surgeries this year in Seattle. A GoFundMe page established to cover his medical expenses raised over $88,000, including a $10,000 donation from former Texans star J.J. Watt and contributions from other teammates.
Agent Sean Stellato noted that Braman is survived by his two daughters, ages 11 and 8. On social media, Watt honored his former teammate: “Rest in peace, brother. Gone far too soon.”
Braman’s NFL career spanned seven seasons (2011–2017). He earned a Super Bowl ring with the Eagles in the 2017 playoffs capping his career by blocking a punt in the divisional round and helping Philadelphia secure its first Super Bowl title in franchise history.
